Meftal Spas Tablet is a combination medication used to alleviate abdominal pain and menstrual cramps. It contains Dicyclomine, which relieves muscle spasms, and Mefenamic Acid, an NSAID that reduces inflammation and pain. Typically taken with food to minimize stomach upset, it can cause side effects like nausea and constipation. It is not recommended for patients with certain medical conditions or during late pregnancy. Consult your doctor for proper dosage and usage.
Active Ingredients: Dicyclomine 10 mg, Mefenamic Acid 250 mg Uses: Effective in relieving abdominal pain and dysmenorrhea (menstrual cramps). Mechanism: Dicyclomine relaxes smooth muscle spasms in the gastrointestinal tract, while Mefenamic Acid acts as a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) to reduce pain and inflammation. Common Side Effects: Diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and constipation. Precautions: Not recommended for patients with renal disease, asthma, glaucoma, or those in the third trimester of pregnancy.
MEFTAL SPAS TABLET contains two active ingredients: dicyclomine and mefenamic acid. Dicyclomine is an anti-spasmodic and anti-cholinergic medication. It functions by blocking acetylcholine, a chemical that causes muscle contractions, at the receptor sites, and it also has a direct spasmolytic effect on smooth muscles. This dual action helps alleviate spasms in the intestine, bile duct, ureters, and uterus. Mefenamic acid, on the other hand, is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that provides anti-inflammatory, pain-relieving, and fever-reducing benefits. It works by inhibiting the cyclooxygenase (COX) enzyme, which is essential for the production of prostaglandins, chemicals that trigger inflammation in the body.
Take MEFTAL SPAS TABLET as directed by your doctor, preferably after meals. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water without crushing or chewing it. Do not change or stop your daily dose of MEFTAL SPAS TABLET without consulting your doctor, even if you start feeling better. Your doctor will determine the appropriate dose and duration based on your age, body weight, and medical condition.
