This medicine is used to treat many different types of infections such as those of the lungs (pneumonia), ear, abdomen, urinary tract, bones, joints, skin and soft tissues. This medicine usually makes you feel better within a few days, but you should continue taking it as prescribed even when you feel better. Stopping it early may make the infection come back and harder to treat.
How it works:
Altacef Suspension is an antibiotic. It works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) which is essential for the survival of the bacteria. By doing so, this medicine stops the infection-causing bacteria from growing further and prevents the infection from spreading without making them resistant to further treatment.
Warning & Precaution:
Safety Advice: Kidney: Altacef Suspension should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. Dose adjustment may be needed. Liver: Altacef Suspension is probably safe to use in patients with liver disease. Limited data suggest dose adjustment may not be needed.
However, consult your childs doctor before giving Altacef Suspension to your child in case of a severe form of liver disease.
