It inhibits the growth of the parasite and kills it, thus relieving your infection. Sodium Stibogluconate Injection is given as an injection into a vein (intravenous) or muscle (intramuscular). Your doctor will decide which one is best for you. It is administered by a healthcare professional. Kindly do not self-administer. Avoid skipping any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Some people may experience vomiting, headache, nausea, diarrhea, abdominal pain, pain in the muscle and joints, and tiredness as the side effects of this medicine. You may also notice some injection site reactions like pain, swelling, or redness. Please consult your doctor if these side effects persist for a longer duration. Rarely, some people may have a severe allergic reaction that needs urgent medical attention.
