Staz 5mg Tablet MD is used in the treatment of vertigo (dizziness) due to ear problems (Meniere’s syndrome and other labyrinthine disorders), nausea, vomiting, and migraine caused by various conditions. Additionally, it can be used as a short-term treatment for non-psychotic anxiety. Staz 5mg Tablet MD is taken after meals in a dose and duration as advised by the doctor. The dose you are given will depend on your condition and how you respond to the medicine. You should take this medicine until your doctor tells you to stop. This medicine is not recommended for long-term treatment. The most common side effect is sedation or drowsiness. Therefore, it is not advisable to drive or operate machinery. Avoid drinking alcohol while taking this medicine, as it can worsen your sleepiness. It can also cause orthostatic hypotension (sudden lowering of blood pressure on standing) and blurred vision. These are usually temporary and often resolve with time. Contact your doctor straight away if you are at all concerned about these side effects. Before taking this medicine, inform your doctor if you have jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes), epilepsy, muscle weakness (myasthenia gravis), or increased pressure in the eye (glaucoma). Staz 5mg Tablet MD works by acting on the vestibular system and suppressing the spinning sensation, helping relieve vertigo. How it works:
Staz 5mg Tablet MD is a vestibular suppressant that works on the inner ear to reduce vertigo (a spinning sensation). It blocks histamine (H1) receptors in the vestibular system, which helps control dizziness and balance problems. The medicine also acts on certain areas of the brain that trigger nausea and vomiting. Blocking dopamine signals, it helps reduce nausea and vomiting associated with vertigo. It usually begins to work within about 30 minutes and can help relieve symptoms during acute attacks.
Directions for use:
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Do not handle the tablets with wet hands. Put it in your mouth but do not swallow it. Staz 5mg Tablet MD should be taken with or after food.
Warning & Precaution:
Safety Advice: Alcohol: It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Staz 5mg Tablet MD
Pregnancy: Staz 5mg Tablet MD is not recommended during pregnancy as there is positive evidence of fetal risk based on animal studies. However, it may still be prescribed by a doctor in situations where the benefits outweigh the risks.
Breast feeding: Staz 5mg Tablet MD should be used with caution during breastfeeding. Breastfeeding should be held until the treatment of the mother is completed and the drug is eliminated from the body.
However, occasional short-term use of Staz 5mg Tablet MD for the treatment of nausea and vomiting poses little risk to the breastfed infant.
Driving: Staz 5mg Tablet MD may cause side effects that could affect your ability to drive.
Kidney: Staz 5mg Tablet MD should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment may be needed.
Liver: There is limited data available on the use of Staz 5mg Tablet MD in patients with liver disease.
