Ondansetron works by blocking serotonin receptors in the brain's chemoreceptor trigger zone, responsible for triggering nausea and vomiting. It can be administered with or without food and is available in various forms such as tablets and dispersible tablets. Common side effects include headaches, flushing, and constipation, but severe side effects like chest pain or allergic reactions require immediate medical attention.
