GP 0.5mg Tablet contains Glimepiride, an antidiabetic agent used for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus when diet and exercise alone do not achieve adequate blood sugar control. Glimepiride stimulates the pancreas to release more insulin and enhances the body's sensitivity to insulin, aiding in effective glucose metabolism. This medication is not recommended for children under 18 and should be used with caution in patients with liver or kidney issues. Common side effects include hypoglycemia, which can present as increased hunger, sweating, shakiness, and irregular heartbeat. Patients are advised to monitor their blood sugar levels regularly and consult their healthcare provider for proper dosage and potential adjustments.
