    PTU TAB

PTU 50mg Tablet contains Propylthiouracil, an anti-thyroid medication used primarily to manage hyperthyroidism, including Graves' disease. It functions by inhibiting the production of thyroid hormones, thus controlling symptoms like rapid heart rate, excessive sweating, and weight loss. This medication should be taken as prescribed, with careful monitoring by a healthcare provider. It is crucial for patients with liver or kidney disease to use PTU with caution, and it is generally not recommended for children under six years of age. Potential side effects include nausea, vomiting, stomach upset, and mild skin rashes. Regular blood tests may be required to monitor thyroid function and ensure the medication's effectiveness and safety.
