Paracaine Eye Drops 5ml contain Proparacaine, a fast-acting local anesthetic used to numb the eye before examinations or procedures such as cataract surgery and foreign body removal. The drops work by blocking the transmission of pain signals from the eye to the brain, providing anesthesia within 30 seconds and lasting up to 10-15 minutes. Administered by healthcare professionals, the drops may cause temporary stinging, redness, and increased tearing. It is important to avoid touching or rubbing the eye until the anesthetic effects wear off?.

    Product Highlights and Usage:

Active Ingredient: Contains Proparacaine, a local anesthetic. Primary Uses: Provides temporary numbness for eye examinations and procedures like tonometry, gonioscopy, cataract surgery, and removal of foreign bodies. Mechanism of Action: Blocks pain signals from the eye to the brain, providing fast-acting anesthesia within 30 seconds. Administration: Applied by a healthcare professional directly to the eye. Common Side Effects: Temporary stinging or burning, eye redness, increased tear production.

    How it works:

PARACAINE reduces sensation and causes numbness at the site of application very quickly. It contains proparacaine, which acts by blocking the flow of sodium ions through the nerves that cause pain sensation. As a result, it limits the transfer of pain signals from the peripheral part of the body (i.e., eye) to the brain, ultimately leading to eye anesthesia.

    Directions for use:

PARACAINE will be administered to you only by a doctor or a nurse prior to an eye procedure. It is not meant for self-administration and is for ophthalmic use only. Your doctor will decide the dosage and frequency based on the anesthetic effect required to carry out the procedure.

    Warning & Precaution:

PREGNANCY There is no proper information regarding the use of PARACAINE in pregnant women. Therefore, prior to the use of PARACAINE, inform your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. Your doctor may use PARACAINE for you only if it is necessary. BREASTFEEDING There is no proper information regarding the use of PARACAINE in breastfeeding women. Therefore, prior to the use of PARACAINE, inform your doctor if you are breastfeeding.
