ATROPINE SULPHATE INJECTION is an antimuscarinic agent that helps restore cardiac function and overall body activity by blocking the effects of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter involved in various physiological functions. Acetylcholine influences muscle contractions, increases body secretions and bowel movements, and decreases heart rate. By inhibiting acetylcholine, ATROPINE SULPHATE INJECTION stimulates skeletal muscles, increases heart rate, and reduces secretions (such as saliva, sweat, bronchial, and intestinal fluids) as well as bowel movements. This action is beneficial for restoring cardiac activity in emergencies like cardiac arrest or poisoning, reducing salivary secretion during surgeries, and counteracting muscle relaxants to stimulate muscle movements.
ATROPINE SULPHATE INJECTION will be administered by a doctor or nurse either intravenously (into a vein), intramuscularly (into a muscle), subcutaneously (under the skin), or via an endotracheal tube (into the trachea). Your doctor will determine the appropriate dose and duration based on your age, body weight, and medical condition.
