Telekast L Tablet is a combination medication with Levocetirizine and Montelukast that provides relief from allergies and respiratory issues like asthma. Levocetirizine works by blocking histamine receptors, reducing symptoms like sneezing, runny nose, and itchy eyes. Montelukast inhibits leukotrienes, which cause airway swelling, thus aiding in asthma management. Commonly used in adults and adolescents above 15 years, this tablet is not suitable for children or those with severe kidney issues. Although generally well-tolerated, some may experience side effects like dizziness, headache, and respiratory infections.
Active Ingredients: Contains Levocetirizine (5 mg) and Montelukast (10 mg), offering dual action against allergic conditions. Treatment Uses: Primarily used to manage allergic rhinitis, chronic urticaria, and bronchial asthma. Mechanism of Action: Levocetirizine blocks histamines, while Montelukast inhibits leukotrienes, reducing airway swelling and allergic reactions. Precautions: Not recommended for severe kidney impairment and children under 15 years. Use with caution in pregnancy and liver issues. Common Side Effects: Includes drowsiness, headache, nausea, and upper respiratory infections.
TELEKAST L TABLET provides relief from the symptoms of allergic rhinitis, asthma, and urticaria. Levocetirizine works by blocking the action of histamines—substances that cause allergic reactions—at the H1 receptors on cell surfaces. Montelukast blocks the action of leukotriene D4, an inflammatory molecule that causes narrowing and swelling of the airways. This results in relaxation of smooth muscle, reduction of airway swelling and inflammation, and a significant decrease in the onset of allergic reactions.
